Xi'an
Xi’an(108°55′E,34°15′N), capital city of Shaanxi Province , named “Chang’an” in the ancient time, which means eternal peace, geographically lying in Central Guanzhong Plain, with the population of 8 million, is the scientific, educational enter and national defense industrial and hi-tech zone.
Xi’an, a birth place of Chinese civilization, being the capital city of China for 13 dynasties, with a history over 3000 years, is one of the most famous four ancient cities in the world together with Athens, Cairo and Rome. Beijing
Beijing (116° 35' 0" E, 40° 3' 0" N), capital of the People’s Republic of China, geographically surrounded by Hebei province except Tianjin city to the southeast, having an area of 16,800 sq km and a population of 17 million, is the national political, economic, educational, cultural and international trade and communication centre.Beijing (the capital to the north), one of six Chinese ancient cities (together with Xi’an, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Nanjing, and hangzhou), has a history of more than 3000 years and being a capital for China more than 800 years. During these 800 years, 34 emperors lived and ruled here.Beijing, full of historical and new sites, such as the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Temple of Heaven, Ming Tombs, Lama Temple, Hutongs, Olympic Stadium, 798 Art Street and so on, is a charming city with a combination of ancient and modern life. Chengdu
Chengdu (30°39′,104°05′), the capital city of Sichuan Province (called as Heavenly State), habitat of giant pandas, located in the west of Sichuan Basin and in the center of Chengdu Plain, has an area of 12,300 square kilometers and a population of over 11 million.
Chengdu, with a history of 2,300 years, endowed with unique natural conditions and beautiful environment, has a pleasant climate, and exquisite lush mountains. This city, with a very famous history of developed economy, is considered to be the city of brocades and embroideries. Besides, this city produces the earliest paper money named “Jiaozi” in the world history. Guilin
Guilin(110° 17' E, 25° 16' N), with an area of 27,800 square kilometers and a population of 5 million, is located in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Guilin, with a history more than 2000 years, surrounded by jagged mountains of limestone covered with evergreen trees, looks like a traditional Chinese scroll ink painting. Since it is the most picturesque city, the scenery is considered to be the best besides heaven.
Guilin has the most spectacular karst scenery in the world. Some minorities inhabit in the mountainous areas, such as the Zhuang (China’s largest minority), Yao, Miao and Dong people. Various of local food provides you a splendid journey for cuisine.

Kunming (25° N ,104° 41' E ), capital of Yunnan Province, famous Chinese historical city, with 26 minority nationalities, covers an area of 21,100 square kilometers and has a population over 5 million. The weather here is as pleasant as spring all year round, so it is famed as “Spring City”.
Kunming, is well known for its diverse cultures, breath-taking natural scenery. Weather and climate here is really mild with blooming flowers and lush vegetation all the time, so the city gains another name “Flower City”. Dali
Dali (25°43' N, 100°10' E),the Autonomous Prefecture of Bai minority, situated in the west-central region of Yunnan Province, about 338 kilometers from the Kunming city, covers an area of 29,500 square kilometers and has a population of 3.5 million.
Dali region is one of the earliest cultural birthplaces of Yunnan Province. Ethnic minorities make up fifty percent of Dali’s total population. Folk celebrations of this region are colorful and interesting. The old town of Dali, decorated with ancient style houses with black tiled roofs, is peaceful and quiet as a poetic scroll painting.

Lijiang
Li Jiang (26° 43' N, 100° 26' E), both the name of the city and of the old town, has about 1.2 million people with an area of 21,200 square kilometers. The old Li Jiang town was listed as the world cultural heritage site by the UNESCO in 1997.
The whole Li Jiang city is famous for “two mountains” (Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Lao Jun Mountain), “one city” (Li Jiang Old City), “one lake” (Lugu Lake), “one river” (Jinsha River), “one culture” (Dongba Culture) and “one folkways” (Mosuo Minority folkway of life). Li Jiang, a great combination of ancient and modern, is one of the most popular places for visitors to experience the beautiful sceneries with the unique way of life.

Shanghai
Shanghai (31°14′N, 121°29′E), Hu for short, the largest city in China, is the economic, financial, trading and shipping center of China. Shanghai, lying at the mouth of the Yangtze River, has an area of 7,037 square kilometers and a population over 20 million.
Shanghai, used to be small fishing village and textiles town, changed to be a semi-colonial city after the Opium War, is now a metropolitan of China. It also has a long history as a trading port or gateway for foreigners to enter China.
Shanghai shows a splendid city view if standing on top of the tallest tower in China. The Yu Garden and City God Temple area is a great combination of the old and the modern. Suzhou
Suzhou (31° 18' N, 120° 37' E), located in the southeast part of Jiangsu Province, bordering Shanghai in the east, Zhejiang Province in the south, Wuxi in the west and Yangtze River to the northern fringe, covers an area of 8,488 square kilometers and has a population of over 8 million. Suzhou is famed as the Oriental Venice because of surrounding with numerous rivers, lakes and the Grand Canal.
Suzhou, built in 541BC, with a history of 2,500 years, is the birthplace of Wu culture, the third behind Beijing and Xi’an for its historical and cultural significance. Suzhou city is laid out in the “double-chessboard” form, still maintains its historical feature.
With the waterways going through the city, Suzhou is a water town full of white-painted houses and elegant bridges. Because of many graceful gardens, Suzhou is also considered to be the “Garden City”, among which, the Humble Administrator’s Garden, the Master of the Nets Garden, Lingering Garden and the Lion’s Garden are the top four most famous. Not only famous for its scenic spots, Suzhou is also well-known for its culture and art, such as Su Embroidery and Kun Opera and so on. Lasa
Lhasa, meaning the “Holy Land”, the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region, with a history of more than 1,300 years, is the political, cultural, economic and transport center of the region. This city has an area of 30,000 square kilometers and a population of 400,000.
Dating back to the 7th century, the Tibetan figure Songtsen Gampo built his palace in Lhasa, and in 1642, the 5th Dalai Lama also made Lhasa his capital and rebuilt the Potala Palace. Lhasa, surrounded by kind and pure people, striking natural scenery, beautiful mountains, flowing rivers and pretty and holy temples, is considered the “Mecca” for the Tibetans.
Tibet Autonomous Region (Xi Zang), located in southwest China, bordering Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Qinghai, Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces domestically, Myanmar, India, Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal and Kashmir area internationally, has an area of 1.22 million square kilometers and a population of 2.6 million.
Because of being 4,000 meters on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Tibet is called the “Roof of the World” and the “Third Pole of the Earth”. The Mt. Qomolangma, also named in Mt. Everest in the boardering area of China and Nepal is 8,848 meters tall, the highest peak in the world.
The main industry in Tibet is agriculture and livestock cultivating mainly sheep, goats, yaks, wheat, potato and rape. This region also produces the famous medicine such as musk, pilose antler and snow lotus enjoying high reputation at home and abroad. The hydropower and thermal power rank the second in the solar energy in the world.
The earliest record for Tibetans was in the late Paleolithic Age. In the 13th century, Tibet became an administrative area under China’s Yuan Dynasty. In the 17th century, the Fifth Dalai Lama was honored to be the local governor by the Qing government. After 1911, the central government sent a minister to this region to strengthen its management of the local government. After the People’s Republic of China, Tibet was founded in 1965 as an autonomous region.
Most Tibetans believe in Tibetan Buddhism and religious activities of circumambulation, worship, prayers and reciting sutras and other religious concerns are always part of their life. Tibetans are also hospitable and accomplished in singing, dancing and other art forms.
